Born in 1904 in Pereslavl, Ukraine, he was arrested on charges of Zionist activities in 1947. Sentenced to imprisonment in the Gulag, but after 6.5 years, he was rearrested while still in the camp and sentenced this time, to an additional 20 years in the Gulag, plus exile. Released in 1955, he succeeded in leaving the USSR for Israel in 1972. He died in 1990. Remember & Save Association website
